From Nuremberg to Wuhan: Sudden boom in remote interpreting?
Marsel de Souza
Parallels between 1945 and 2020 will be drawn to try and envision the future of our profession.
March 29, 2023
The Nuremberg Trials were seminal in that they were the culmination of the technology and professional practice that had started taking shape two decades before. Now, the Covid-19 pandemic has become the single most disruptive event for the interpreting profession in the past 75 years – most notably, it acted as a catalyst of remote interpreting. Though we do not have as much hindsight in the case of the 2020 events as in the case of the events in 1945, parallels between 1945 and 2020 will be drawn to try and envision the future of our profession. Participants will have the opportunity to provide their input and ideas, and at the end the speaker will share a wealth of resources on the topic.
